In order to continue to empower low-income tenants to defend themselves against unlawful or unfair housing practices and provide you with the capacity to improve your living conditions, IU holds Tenant Resource Clinics every Wednesday from 1:30PM to 5:30PM. Clinics are held at our office, at 1930 Wilshire Blvd, Suite 801.

All clinics are open to the general public.


What the clinics are about:

On average IU sees between 30-50 tenants per week. They are conducted in English and Spanish. All tenants receive immediate one-to-one or group assistance and can include a variety of services including: counseling and consultations, training and technical assistance, referral services, and follow-up.

Activities at clinics include:

➢    Needs assessment
➢    One-on-one and group counseling
➢    Training on tenant rights
➢    Working with clients to provide and obtain the necessary services and resources
➢    The navigation of legal and governmental processes
➢    Technical assistance and referral services
➢    Maintaining regular follow-up contact to monitor progress
➢    Conflict resolution, mediation, and intervention services
➢    Emergency services
➢    Home visits

Common issues include:

➢    Obtaining repairs
➢    Health concerns
➢    Illegal increases & evictions
➢    Discrimination
➢    Harassment and retaliation
➢    Lock outs & shut offs
➢    Illegal entries
➢    Relocation benefits
➢    Deposit returns
